TWO GUESTS THIS COMING WEEK!

Blue1-sm

Ladies and gentlemen, let's give a big hand to this coming week's guests: Teresa/Tracy Grant and Alissa Baxter!

Sparky is thrilled (thrilled!) to announce that this coming week we will be interviewing two guests.

TeresaTracyGrantOn Wednesday, March 19, Cara/Andrea interviews Teresa (Tracy) Grant, who studied British history at Stanford University and received the Firestone Award for Excellence in Research for her honors thesis on shifting conceptions of honor in late fifteenth century England. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her young daughter and three cats. In addition to writing, Tracy works for the Merola Opera Program, a professional training program for opera singers, pianists, and stage directors. Her real life heroine is her daughter Mélanie, who is very cooperative about Mummy’s writing. Tracy is currently at work on her next book chronicling the adventures of Malcolm AlissaBaxterand Suzanne Rannoch.

Then on Friday, March 21, Mary Jo interviews Alissa Baxter. Alissa was born in South Africa, and grew up with her nose in a book on a poultry farm in Mpumalanga. After school and university, where she majored in Political Science and French, she started writing her first Regency novel, The Dashing Debutante.  She has lived in Switzerland and London and held a variety of jobs, including flight attendant for Emirates Airline and publicist for a television station.  After returning to South Africa, she lived in Durban and Cape Town, where she wrote Lord Fenmore's Wager, then moved into contemporary romantic novels set in her native country.  Join us as we discuss a South African writer's journey!

Sparky is so excited about these two guests that she can hardly contain herself! (Hint:  there's more to come in the following week, too, when Mary Jo interviews Anne Gracie! More on that next Sunday.)

  6. HJ, I told Sparky what you said about Berowne and now she insists that I get any Grant books with Berowne in them. How she’ll find time to read themn I don’t know. Sparky’s TBR pile is filled with books by the Wenches!

  11. I’m checking in Mon. a.m. with apologies for neglecting Sparky the last two Sundays. She’s been preempted by basketball!
I LOVE Tracy Grant. I’m a fan of the spy genre in whatever time the action takes place, but the combination of Regency and spies is perfect!
Great psycho Sparky pictures! What is she doing??

  21. Donna, Sparky says to tell you she’s been busy too (though not with basketball), so you are forgiven. *g*
Sparky has already added Tracy Grant books to her wish list, so I’m sure we’ll be adding her to our must-buy list!
The psycho pictures came about quite easily. All I had to do was set my camera for speed photos and then start waving the feather on a stick. Instant Wild Kitty!

  26. Glenda, it takes considerable patience, but if I just keep clicking the shutter, I can usually get a few good action shots. Sparky is so fast that I often end up with most of the pictures showing the tail end of Sparky as she zooms out of frame, or they’re often out of focus because she’s moving so fast.
The impetus for her zooming all over the place was a yardstick to which I had attached a sturdy string with a feather on the end. She’s absolutely crazy about that thing, and trying to manage a camera with one hand and the stick with the other makes for some uncoordinated shots. But even so, I usually get lucky with one or two shots. That cat is amazingly fast and agile!
I’m excited about the guests, too. As I mentioned earlier, I now have new names to add to my wish list. *g*
