SPARKY READS

SparkyShockDel3sm

"A gripping tale!" exclaims Sparky Tabasco.

As you can see by the way Sparky is gripping the side of her perch, she is totally engrossed in Jo Beverley's A Shocking Delight, which will be officially released on Tuesday. We'd love to have you join us on Wednesday, April 2, when Wench Susan King interviews Jo on A Shocking Delight. Come and ask Jo questions and visit with each other!

So, Sparky, who are your favorite authors besides Jo Beverley?

SparkyPortrait1sm

My favorite authors? You're kidding, right? The Word Wenches, of course!

Inquiry

And in May, I get to read another Wench book! Mary Jo Putney's Not Quite a Wife! I can't wait!

*CORRECTION: The hardback library edition of Not Quite a Wife comes out in May, and the mass market paperback edition comes out in September (actually, the very end of August).

ByeByeSm

Bye-bye for now. I'm off to do some more reading. See you next week.

  6. Louisa, some of the Wenches have worried that Sparky’s reading material is sometimes a little “mature,” for her, but Sparky knows a good book when she sees one. And of course with 8 Wenche authors as her godmothers, Sparky’s library is well stocked with excellent books!

  11. Oh Sparky, I look forward to every Monday when I can see what you have been doing during the past week. I do so like the photos Sherrie takes of you.

  16. Sparky has good taste in books. Just wish she could sit on my knee and purr while I read to her. Or maybe I could sit on hero and Sparky can go back to reading books. Sorry, cabin fever is getting better of me. Snow might never melt and icicles are getting lethal. I need a good book now!

  21. Hi, Jenny. Sparky asked me to tell you she’s gratified that you look forward to finding out what she’s been up to each week. And from me, I’ll just add that with a photographic subject like Sparky, it’s pretty easy to chronicle her weekly antics!

  26. Maggie, being feral when I first rescued Sparky as a 3-week-old orphan, it has taken her longer to decide she likes sitting on laps. In fact, she’s only begun doing the lap thing in the past couple of months. But she’s making up for last time, and since she’s quite gregarious, I know she would love to curl up in your lap and listen to you read to her. That would be pure bliss.
And I hear you about cabin fever! We’ve had torrential rains for days and in fact, we broke all previous records for the wettest March ever. Thankfully, however, we’ve had no snow this winter, and no icicles. Still, cabin fever abounds. Everyone’s gone a little stir-crazy, even Sparky. Just half an hour ago, she found me walking down the hallway and pretended I was an alien monster. She fluffed up like a puffball, then arched her tail and hopped sideways at me, gave my legs a good slapping, then raced away to terrorize the dogs. *g*

  31. OK – I love the Sparky stories – and the pictures are wonderful.
I attempted to post my comments on the other part of the post, but it would not offer me a Post button.
So for the other part of the post – favorite things…..
    Deja vu all over again.
Recently, I have been rereading Amanda Quick one word titles – Desire, Reckless etc.
And sunshine…I have SAD – a sun deprivation illness which makes me really need sunshine…luckily I live in Austin – and sunshine is normally our middle name. This winter we have had less than normal sun and lower than normal temperatures.
Things that give me happiness are not things, but people and then nature.
Our wild flowers are coming along in this area, they are beautiful. This is where Lady Bird Johnson started her beautification program, and we even have the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower center where heritage plants are propagated.
Most valuable to me would be loved ones and friends.
