A lot of really bad things happened on this date (but Finland’s independence was recognized in 1918 and Utah became the 45th state in 1896 so there’s that) so I’ll just wish you a happy Free Flower Basket Day! Give a loved one flowers to celebrate the earth’s perihelion, the day when we reach the closest point to the sun. We won’t be any warmer, but here in the northern hemisphere, flowers brighten dark winter days, and down under—why flowers ought to be at their most plentiful!

Enjoy those flowers, Patricia and all!
I have some lovely red, white, and green ones still going from Christmas!
Pat, dust those flowers with snowflakes and you’ll echo the weather across a good part of the US! But Free Flower Basket Day is a very nice idea in general!
