Eat, Drink and Be Merry

I don't know about you, but I'm still recovering from Christmas Dinner! My brother and his family are vegetarian, and everyone is a gourmet cook (including his son)—so the making the feast has everyone in the kitchen (I contributed the Guinness chocolate cake—alas, it didn't last long enough for a photo!)

We started with an assortment of local artisanal cheeses, then moved on to carrot-ginger soup, risotto patties, kale salad and stuffed mushrooms. Somehow we all managed to find room for the cake and traditional Swiss cookies made of gingerbread filled with marzipan!

I hope your table was also filled with goodies and good cheer.
Happy Holidays, everyone!

  1. You make being a vegetarian sound like a possibility.
I today enjoyed a butternut squash omelet with blue cheese and caramelized onions.
Later today, I will exchange pears for tangerines.
Enjoy the rest of the season.

  6. We have another Christmas dinner coming up on the 6th!
I love seeing people try alternate things. In Australia we’re still pretty much following the traditional British Christmas recipes, which really don’t work in an Australian summer.
I attempted an enormous, edible Christmas tree, and I was horrified by how it turned out. However, someone sneaked the stupid thing into the middle of the dinner table as the centrepiece. They obviously have lower standards than me!
My fingertips are STILL stained green from making it…
